The pre-op diet for my doctor is 14 days long, which from what I understand is on the long side. It consists of a “full” liquid diet. I’m supposed to eat/drink at least 800 calories a day but no more than 1200 a day. I also have to have at least 80 grams of protein a day. That number was calculated specifically for my height and weight and will be different for everyone. I have to drink at least one protein shake per day as a meal and then fill in the rest as needed. I also have to consume at least 64oz of water a day. Everything I eat or drink has to be recorded and will be reviewed at my pre-op appointment. Some of the things I can have are:
Skim Milk
Protein Shakes
Sugar Free Jello or Pudding
Low Fat Strained Soups
Broth
Crystal Light
Plain Yogurt
Thin grits
Thin Oatmeal
No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast
