I keep an excel spreadsheet of my food journal. It’s more organized and it helps me with the math. Although today is my 5th day I will post each day for you guys to see what I have been doing.

Thoughts for the Day:
Today is going well. I feel motivated. I feel like the hardest part of this diet is going to be getting the right amount of water. I usually don’t drink water and this is a huge change for me. Breakfast was easy and I didn’t have any issues. Around lunch time I got hungry and had some soup, it wasn't very much and I got really hungry about an hour later. I ate some grits and I think that helped satiate the hunger some. I walked on my treadmill for 30 minutes. I burned 185 calories. Usually the evenings is when I eat the most so it was difficult. I was hungry most of the afternoon and tried several different things but nothing really seemed to stop the hungry feeling. I usually stay up late but I'm afraid if I do that I will want to eat again so I'm going to bed early instead. It's probably better anyway because I usually don't get enough sleep. Overall I'm proud of myself. I met all my goals for the day and didn't cheat.

Pre-Op Diet

The pre-op diet for my doctor is 14 days long, which from what I understand is on the long side. It consists of a “full” liquid diet. I’m supposed to eat/drink at least 800 calories a day but no more than 1200 a day. I also have to have at least 80 grams of protein a day. That number was calculated specifically for my height and weight and will be different for everyone.  I have to drink at least one protein shake per day as a meal and then fill in the rest as needed. I also have to consume at least 64oz of water a day. Everything I eat or drink has to be recorded and will be reviewed at my pre-op appointment. Some of the things I can have are:
Skim Milk
Protein Shakes
Sugar Free Jello or Pudding
Low Fat Strained Soups
Broth
Crystal Light
Plain Yogurt
Thin grits
Thin Oatmeal
No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast

Lapband!

Well it has been a long time since I posted but there is a good reason for that. Over the last 6 months I have been working with my doctor(s) to get approved and set up for Lapband. After going through the hoops and loops I was finally able to get approved. I am currently set up for surgery on March 27th, 2012. I started my pre-op diet on March 13th, 2012. I am currently on day 5 of an all liquid diet. I started my pre-op diet weighing in at 252, as of today I weigh 242. Yep… you read that correctly. I have lost 10 pounds in roughly 4 days. I will post details on what the diet consists of in another post.

Before Photos

It would seem that the general format of these weight loss blogs always involve a before and after photo. Seeing as how I only just started I guess all you get is my before photo. So here I am today… in my super awesome workout outfit. (Oh yeah!) I feel about how I look too… FAT!! I have never felt this bad about the way I look before but times they are a changing!
